Pakistan sets a unique team record in their Test cricket history

After bowling out Sri Lanka in two sessions on day one of the second Test in Colombo, Pakistan batters came out all guns blazing as they achieved a major milestone in their Test history.

Pakistan raced to 100 runs in 16.4 balls, which is their fastest team hundred in first innings in Test matches in 21st century.

100 off 100 balls (16.4 overs) – this is Pakistan’s fastest team hundred in first innings in Tests in 21st century. Might possibly be the fastest in their history (data not available of some old Tests). #SLvPak

Despite losing Imam ul Haq when the team score was 13, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood continued to attack and kept the run rate above six.

Shafique completed his fifty in just 49 balls, whereas Shan Masood also kept scoring at a strike rate of above 100. Masood completed his fifty in only 44 balls.

Both Shan and Shafique completed their century partnership in just 103 balls, which is their first in Test cricket.
