A home in Arlington, Virginia, exploded as police were investigating a man who fired a flare gun from inside the residence Monday night, police said.
Arlington County police said on social media at around 8:40 p.m. that as officers were attempting to serve a search warrant, “the suspect discharged several rounds inside the home.”
“Subsequently, an explosion occurred at the residence and officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the explosion,” county police said on X.
Video posted to social media showed a huge fireball and what appeared to be the roof and other debris lofted into the air during the blast.
Crews were working to extinguish the fire, officials said.
Police officers reported minor injuries, county police said, and an investigation continues. The department said no one had been taken to a hospital.
