Two people were killed and 17 others were injured in a shooting during a block party in Detroit, Michigan early Sunday morning.
Detroit police reported that a shooter opened fire at 2:25 a.m E.T. at a block party in the city’s east side, according to NBC affiliate WDIV. Michigan State Police also confirmed two fatalities in a statement posted to X on Sunday.
“The Michigan State Police is assisting the Detroit Police Department on a shooting investigation through our partnership on the Homicide Task Force,” state police said.
There is currently no suspect in custody, according to state police. No additional details regarding a potential suspect’s identity were released.
The Detroit Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for more information from NBC News.
