India’s star batter Virat Kohli has requested his fans to stop referring him as ‘King’ since he finds it embarrassing.
Kohli shared these thoughts during Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s unbox event, where the Indian Premier League (IPL) side unveiled their jersey for the upcoming season.
“Firstly, you need to stop calling me that word [King]. Please call me Virat. Don’t call me that word [king], I was just telling Faf du Plessis that I feel embarrassed every year when you call me that word,” Kohli said at the RCB unbox event on Tuesday.
RCB will begin their 2024 IPL campaign against Chennai Super Kings on March 22 at the Chepauk stadium.
The IPL final is slated for May 26, with a mere five-day gap preceding the commencement of the men’s T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean on June 1.
Due to the upcoming elections in India, only the schedule for the first two weeks has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The remainder of the fixture would be announced in due course.
The teams are divided into two groups of five with 14 group games for each side. They face the teams in their group once and the other group twice (home and away). The results are compiled in one table.
