Beyond any shadow of a doubt, no cricket rivalry comes nearer when we talk about the rivalry between India and Pakistan. The tension, the pressure, and the anticipation brew tenfold more than in other regular cricket games.
India-Pakistan matches are not only highly anticipated but equally stressed that you can take the knife and cut your tension through it. Last time both teams met at Melbourne Cricket Ground in head to head T20 World Cup game where India snatched the victory from Pakistan after a melodramatic chase and a memorable knock played by Virat Kohli.
Indian cricketer and now a commentator, Dinesh Karthik, while talking on ICC digital channel, expressed what it was like being a part of the Indian team who bagged the famous win against Pakistan. However, most importantly, he rang the alarms for Pakistan to watch out for Shubman Gill, who has been a force to reckon with on Ahmedabad pitches.
“I want talk about one match – India-Pakistan, that is going to be the blockbuster. The last time those two teams met, I was part of team India in the T20 World Cup, and I don’t think I have smiled like that for a week post the game. That was the kind of impact it had. It took a few days to recover, so that is going to be one hell of a game,” Karthik said.

“In the last six, eight months, Ahmedabad have produced some of the best batting pitches. One man who is gonna definitely say ‘yes’ to that match is Shubman Gill. He has scored a hundred literally every time they have walked out Ahmedabad. He is gonna take the pitch, put it in his pocket and travel with that everywhere he goes,” he added.
Earlier in Indian Premier League (IPL), the right-handed batsman has proven that Ahmedabad is his territory and that he is a walking threat on it. Gill was the top-scorer in IPL’23, registering 809 runs to his name, averaging at 59.
