Arthur reveals why he wanted Babar Azam to continue as Pakistan skipper

Mickey Arthur, the current team director of Pakistan, has revealed why he advocated for Babar Azam to continue as the captain of the national team.

In the midst of rumors suggesting a possible change in captaincy, Arthur confirmed that he supported Babar and even had a conversation with former PCB management committee chairman, Najam Sethi, regarding this matter. Arthur’s intention was to emphasize that Babar had grown and matured as a leader, and he believed it was crucial for him to continue leading the side.

“Babar is a matter of pride for me. The way he has developed as a world class batsman and matured as a leader. Our entire new philosophy of playing cricket the ‘The Pakistani Way’ revolves around Babar,” Arthur said.

Arthur emphasized the importance of showing unwavering support for Babar. He stressed that it was crucial for everyone in the team to support Babar in whatever decisions he made and to have each other’s backs on and off the field.

“There is a lot of chopping and changing in Pakistan cricket, in terms of selection as well as coaching roles. I wanted to bring stability in the Pakistan team. It is about everyone knowing that I and the rest of the management totally back Babar in whatever decision he takes and about everyone being there to watch each other’s back. And it is also about obviously going all the way and not holding back on the field. Pakistan has immense talent and on its day it can beat any team anywhere,” he concluded.
