Israel-Gaza war live updates: Netanyahu says Israel is ‘preparing for a ground incursion’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that Israel was “preparing for a ground incursion” of the Gaza Strip, but said he “won’t specify” when or how the incursion would happen. The public was not aware of many details, he said, “and that’s the way it is supposed to be.” In a call with Netanyahu on Wednesday afternoon, President Biden noted the importance of “a pathway for a permanent peace between Israelis and Palestinians” after the crisis, while reiterating his support for Israel’s right to defend itself, according to the White House. The UNRWA, a U.N. humanitarian agency in Gaza, said it “began to significantly reduce its operations” due to lack of fuel to run generators, which Israel has blocked from entering the enclave for more than two weeks.
