Whether you know it as pani puri or golgappas, this humble street snack rules every foodie’s heart. The combination of spicy water, along with flavourful filling and tangy chutney, tantalizes our taste buds and leaves us craving for more with each bite. However, the only concern revolving around this street food is hygiene. Thoughts such as whether the vendor is wearing gloves or if the water he uses is safe for drinking often convince foodies to skip the golgappa outing. But it seems that a viral video has an ultimate solution to our concern. This, after a clip making rounds on the internet, gives a glance at the preparation of the packaged pani puris. The best part is that in none of the steps was the involvement of human hands required.

The video, which was shared by a food vlogger, was recorded at a factory in Surat, Gujarat. It opens with countless golgappas coming out from a container and being fried in flat heavy machinery. Then, someone poured an entire sack of flour and an equivalent amount of water into a big container that kneaded the mixture, which was further converted into a flat sheet. All of this without any human hands involved. Next, a massive roller with round-shaped plates is pressed on top of the flat sheet. This step gives you a perfect round-shaped golgappa. Once the finely sliced golgappas are ready, they are fried in a giant fryer and strained through a moving tray with rods. Lastly, they are sealed in a packet. The video was shared with the text, “Most hygienic pani puri.” Take a look at the video below:
